It's a ........

Well we had an ultrasound today that we found out the baby's gender. Highlight the text below to read all about it.

We were a bit worried today that the baby would not cooperate with the ultrasound. Afterall, this is our child. Through all of the somersaults, we managed to get more than a handful of full frontals. Our baby boy was showing off in all his glory. He seems to be active and healthy. I guess help with boy names is in order.

We would have been happy either way. It was a really fun ultrasound because we got to see the baby so active. I haven't really felt the baby move yet. Maybe just a few flutters.

Week 19

At least I have an excuse this holiday season for my belly getting bigger.

Ultrasound Scheduled

Our next ultrasound is scheduled for the Monday after Thanksgiving. This is the one where we get to find out the sex of the baby if he or she will cooperate. I plan to post the gender on the blog, but I will make a link to a different page, so you won't have to find out unless you want to.

Week 18

Well I just finished up the first part of my student teaching. I was so busy at the end that I have not had a chance to make a new name poll...until today. The girl name that won was Emma Rose. I found this name on the Stanchfield Family Research page that Tracey (James's Sister) put together. The first name was actually Rose, and James thought that would sound better as a middle name. I think he was right. Emma is so popular right now though. Neither of us really want a name that is too popular, but I also don't want a weird name. James has a knack for picking really weird names. He probably thinks the same about me. Anyway there is a new name poll for boy names, so make sure you vote!

I have pretty much gotten over my cold, but I still have a nasty cough. I think today we are going to go and try and find the school I am going to be spending the next five weeks at. It is out on some county road in the boonies. I think it is over by this park we like to go hiking at though, so I think we will take the dog. Poor Ginger hasn't gotten to go anywhere besides her everyday park in a long time.

I still have not felt the baby kick, but I guess this is normal for a first time pregnancy. The past few nights I have been laying in bed really still waiting to feel those flutters, and I end up falling asleep. It is like when I use to lay in bed waiting for James to come home from work and I would fall asleep. I thought maybe last week I felt something, but James said it was probably just gas pains. I dunno...maybe this week. Here is what is going on with the baby this week:

"At about 5 1/2 inches (14 centimeters) in length and some 7 ounces (200 grams) in weight, the fetus is growing fast and looking more and more babyish. The pads on her fingers and toes are formed, her eyebrows are starting to appear, and her eyes are staring straight ahead rather than out from the sides of her head. There is rumbling in her bowel as meconium, the baby's first BM, accumulates there. If you are carrying a boy, his prostate gland is starting to develop now. Though you probably will not feel them at this early date, your baby may have the hiccups, which happen before fetal breathing movements become common. Since her trachea is still filled with fluid, these harmless spasms are silent."
