The Boy Who Lived

Well this week Corbin celebrated his 4-month birthday by dressing up as the boy who lived for the Harry Potter Book 7 release party at Follett's Purdue West Bookstore.

I used lip liner to draw the scar on Corbin's head.

We dropped the Anglia off at the store earlier that day for the party. James had just finished restoring it and got it painted last week. I called several other bookstores that were having Harry Potter parties, but Follett's was the only one willing to trade two copies of the book for having the car on display during their party. The car ended up making the news.

The family when we dropped the car off.

Later that night I picked James up from work and we all went to the party, mainly so we could get our free copies of the book, but also because we wanted to see people looking at the car. James worked so hard on it. It ended up looking really cool inside the store, but it was a bit tricky getting it in and out of the store. James had to use a shrinking charm to get it in and out of the store.

I wanted to dress up like Mrs. Weasley, but I didn't have a crocheted shawl. Maybe the next time we take the car somewhere, I could put a real costume together.

With Corbin teething it has been difficult for both of us to find time to read, but James and I have both finished reading the story already!

Corbin's Pentwater Bear

So while we were in Pentwater for the Fourth of July, we went to the Pentwater Pals store and bought Corbin a new stuffed bear. After they fill the bear with fluff, they put a star inside, and you get to make a wish. James let me make the wish. Of course I wished something to the effect that I wanted Corbin to grow up happy and healthy. James said he was going to wish that the bear didn't come alive and eat us.

We also had to name the bear since Corbin couldn't. The store owner had a list of suggested names. From the list I picked "Huggy Bear" not knowing that there was a character on Starsky and Hutch with that name. Ugh...James only told me after they printed the certificate of authenticity. Oh well. Huggy Bear it is....Corbin does look really cute holding him.

More Fourth of July Photos

After visiting my parents, we went up to the cottage to see James's family and take Corbin to the beach. Corbin was with us when we went up to the lake for Memorial Day weekend, but it was too cold and we were to busy opening the cottage to spend much time on the sand.

The three of us at the beach.

Corbin braces for his first step into the cold Lake Michigan water.

He wails as the cold water touches his toes!

Mommy and Corbin at the beach. Don't worry. We weren't in the sun too long thanks to the nice sunshade tent the Grammy Linda bought. It was quite an ordeal to put it up since one of the support strings broke, but once it was up it was great for blocking the sun and the wind.

After spending about 30 minutes at the beach a storm started to move in, so we went out for dinner. Since it was cold and raining I finally got to dress him in this cute red corduroy outfit my mom bought for Corbin.

Look at those eyes!

What is Fonzie like?

More photos will be up soon!

Until then... be cool!
