Trip to the Zoo

Today we went to the Zoo with our friends Jim and Tammy to celebrate their daughter's second birthday.

First stop was their genetically engineered super bugs.

Our second stop was to see the bald eagles.

Jim was impressed they could carve canoes from fallen trees.

Next stop was the petting zoo. Corbin recognized the llamas, but kept calling them "mammas"

After the petting zoo, we went to the prairie dog display, they had tubes you could crawl through with "observation bubbles".

After the zoo we stopped for a boat ride.

The final stop of the day was a relaxing train ride around the park.

We headed back out to WV to visit the grandparents again.
This time Corbin managed not to be sick, so he and the grandparents had lots more fun

Grandma baked Corbin his very own sandcastle cake

and she also set up a water table and pool for him to play with

It's raining trees!

Well, we went headed to WV early Friday morning to visit Kelly's family, happy to know we were leaving ahead of a storm that was predicted to hit the area Friday afternoon.

Late Saturday evening we get a voice mail from our neighbors, asking us to call them immediately. I called and found out they had also been out of town and had just gotten back, and found a tree had fallen on our house!

The view from our patio!

I talked to them the next morning, too see how bad the damage was. As it turns out we were all extremely lucky. The tree that fell was about 5 feet from their house, and the only real damage was the death of our patio table, the gate on the deck and a gutter.

If the tree had been a couple feet longer or fallen a slightly different way there could have been some serious damage to our house.
